Les invitamos a una protesta pidiendo la libertad de las y los presos político en México. Según la Liga Méxicana de Derechos Humanos Comité Cerezo, hay 395 prisioneros políticos en México, es decir, activistas encarcelados por defender los derechos humanos en México. Comité Cerezo.

Entre los presos políticos más famosos están el Doctor Mireles, organizador de las autodefensas de Michoacán, y Nestora Salgado, comandante de las policías comunitarias del estado de Guerrero.

Nestora Salgado es ciudadana de Estados Unidos y México. A pesar de su doble nacionalidad, lleva casi dos años en prisión en México. Su delito: enfrentar la corrupción y la extorción contra su pueblo querido en Guerrero. La excusa del gobierno: acusarla de ser uno de los criminales que ella quería erradicar. Nestora Salgado lleva ha estado en huelga de hambre desde principios de Mayo pidiendo su libertad. En este video, su esposo José Luis, hoy en huelga de hambre por la libertad de su pareja lo explica: Jose Luis.

En San Diego, cinco activistas se fueron a huelga de hambre el 29 de Mayo pidiendo la libertad de Nestora. (Ver noticia: Huelgas de hambre frente consuladosde México en San Diego y Los Ángeles)

El Consulado de México en San Diego ofreció dar una respuesta a la petición de libertad de Nestora el día de mañana, 3 de Junio, a las 5 pm. Los invitamos a que acudan y apoyen las demandas:

Freedom for political prisoners in Mexico

We invite you to a protest calling for the freedom of political prisoners and Mexico. According to the Cerezo Mexican Human Rights Committee, there are 395 political prisoners in Mexico, meaning activists imprisoned for defending human rights in Mexico. Comité Cerezo.

Among the most famous political prisoners are Dr. Mireles, organizer of the Autodefensas  in Michoacan, and Nestora Salgado, commander of the Community Police of Guerrero.

Nestora Salgado is a citizen of the United States and Mexico. Despite hher dual citizenship, she has spent nearly two years in prison in Mexico. Her crime: tackling corruption and extortion against his people in Guerrero, Mexico. The government's excuse: accusing her of being one of the criminals she fights against. Nestora has been on hunger strike since early May calling for her freedom. In San Diego, five activists went on hunger strike on May 29 demanding the release of Nestora. The Consulate of Mexico in San Diego offered to answer the request for release of Nestora tomorrow, June 3, at 5 pm. We invite you to come and support the demands:

half hour award winning News Magazine Show. 

The course is an introduction to reporting methods and techniques
required to report news stories on the United States (U.S.) Mexico border. 

Emphasis is placed on cultural, safety, and technological aspects
of border reporting. 

This course is designed for students majoring in Radio TV Film
AS WELL AS ANYONE WHO IS INTERESTED IN BORDER ISSUES.

Music, food, presentations and more. The Binational Front of Indigenous Organizations (FIOB) and OllinCalli (Collective in Movement) would like to formally invite you to our fundraising dinner, Mujerestrabajadoras, lasáreaslaborales mas explotadas en México después del TLC en 1994. This international women’s Day celebration is to recognize our hardworking female farm and maquiladora workers residing and working in Baja California, Mexico. As organizations committed to defending the human and labor right’s Mujerestrabajadoras, lasáreaslaborales mas explotadas en México después del TLC en 1994 will include presentations on the current living and working conditions that our brothers and sisters and faced with, as well as food and live entertainment.

This event is an opportunity to learn about the conditions facing agricultural and maquila workers in Baja California. In addition, it is a chance to create and build collaborations with our organization and other community-based groups.  Attendance to this event will give your organization a chance to gather information that will increase your understanding that work we do with indigenous and non-indigenous workers in Baja California.

In partnership with the Investigative Fund of the Nation Institute, Need to Know investigates whether U.S. border agents have been using excessive force in an effort to curb illegal immigration. Eight people have been killed along the border in the past two years. One man, Anastasio Hernandez Rojas, died a short time after being beaten and tased, an event recorded by two eyewitnesses whose video is the centerpiece of the report. Both eyewitnesses say the man offered little or no resistance. One told Need to Know that she felt like she watched someone being “murdered,” and the San Diego coroner’s office classified the death as a “homicide.”
