San Diego City College Scholarship Opportunities
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It’s that wonderful time of the year again to promote San Diego City College Foundation (internal) Scholarship opportunities to our amazing students at San Diego City College. Please help us spread the word to your students by making special announcements in your classes and posting the attached flier in your online classes in an effort to reach as many students as possible.
Did you know that many students are unaware that these scholarship opportunities exist? Sadly, some of the scholarships never receive applications and don’t get awarded. This is where we could really use your help in spreading the word to your students. We would love to give ALL of the available scholarship money away to our students! Please help us with this very worthy goal.
Our Scholarship Coordinator, Sylvia Ramirez, is willing to come to your classes to give a five-minute mini presentation and distribute important information on how to apply for these scholarships and provide a schedule of upcoming scholarship workshops designed to increase the number of student applications in an effort to maximize students’ chances of being awarded scholarships. That’s FREE money they can certainly use!
If you are interested in scheduling a five-minute presentation in your class, please contact our Scholarship Coordinator, Sylvia Ramirez, in the Office of Student Affairs at 619-388-3983 or sramirez003@sdccd.edu as she is a great resource on campus and has the passion to assist our students through this process!
Your support in this student-centered opportunity to earn FREE money is extremely appreciated. Please be advised that all of the scholarship opportunities require a letter of recommendation from a professor, counselor or another campus representative who is familiar with the student and willing to write a letter of recommendation.
* Scholarship applications can be viewed by visiting sdcity.academicworks.com - students may ONLY apply to scholarships via the link provided – please note the scholarship cycle will run from 12/1/18 2/24/19. All scholarship opportunities posted on Academic Works are for San Diego City College students who meet the requirements posted in each scholarship.
Thank you for your time and efforts in helping our students succeed and for ensuring student equity is first and foremost!

Career Apprenticeship Readiness Program Application
Colleagues,
San Diego Continuing Education's (@SDCE) program for opportunity youth, San Diego Gateway to College and Career (@SDG2CC), is excited to share with information on recruitment for SDCE's new 12-week Apprenticeship Readiness Program beginning mid-March. We are launching this new program in partnership with the San Diego Building and Construction Trades Council, which represents 22 local skilled trade labor unions. Please help SDCE to place our students in union jobs! We are accepting applications now! We need your help to recruit rockstar students!
WIth generous support from the San Diego Workforce Partnership, the Irvine Foundation, the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation, and the City of San Diego, this program will provide an introduction to the trades and on-site construction internships for 24 qualified candidates including regulation safety gear, boots, hard hat, and tool belt for every participant. We are seeking enthusiastic applicants who qualify as low income, who are 18-24 years old, and who reside in the City of San Diego. There is so much opportunity for jobs in the skilled trades today and particularly for women. I hope that you will share the attached flyer and send us young adults who you know might be interested in this great opportunity to learn and earn.
San Diego Gateway to College and Career is a program of the SDCE Foundation and empowers opportunity youth to achieve emotional, social, and financial sustainability, and well-being in their lives. We are committed to alleviating youth disconnection by creating a compassionate educational community that provides individualized and intensive support, wrap around services, guided pathways to college and career, employment driven learning opportunities, and subsidized work experience. We are located on the ECC campus.
Please feel free to contact SDG2CC Executive Director, Dr. Laurie Coskey, at lcoskey@sdccd.edu or on her cell at 858.231.9933 if you have any questions.
