Dear compatriots, colleagues, friends, students, teachers and fellow Mixtec people,
On behalf of the Mixtec community of Santa María Natividad, located in the Mixteca Baja region of the Mexican State of Oaxaca, we hereby address you with this humble request for assistance. The town of Santa María Natividad is located in a very poor region, as are many of the indigenous communities located throughout the Republic of Mexico. The citizens of Santa Maria Natividad live in some of the worst conditions and lack even the most basic sewer system. This situation negatively affects the health and well-being of the town’s residents. The people of this community cannot continue to live in such austere conditions. Therefore, we decided to construct a Sanitary Sewer System.
But, we need a lot of help to raise the funds we need to complete phase 3 of our sanitary sewer system project. We are requesting your support by attending to our annual fundraising event and learn about our Mixtec culture, taste our delicious food, hear our language, listen to our regional music and at the same time support a good cause!
On behalf of the town of Santa María Natividad, we would like to offer in advance our most heartfelt thanks for your support. We look forward to see you at our Mixtec Cultural Fundraising event on Saturday, October 2nd, 2010 at 7p.m. at the World Beat Center, 2100 Park Blvd. San Diego, CA 92101. Please view the attached flyer for more information!
Please feel free to contact us with any question or comment regarding this effort.
Sincerely,
Valentina Torres
President of “Ñuu Saa” Committee for the Development of Santa María Natividad
